COURSE DESCRIPTION

Over the last decade, our profession has seen an interesting integration between the Straight Wire Appliance, active self-ligating brackets (SLB) and a number of new archwires. In order to make this integration efficient and practical for the orthodontist as well as to facilitate the delivery of excellent results, specific modification of the brackets prescription (CCO Rx) as well as a rigorous but simple sequence of treatment mechanics has been developed. This 60 minute presentation will introduce participants to these modifications and the core principles of the three stages of treatment mechanics. Clinical cases will be used throughout the presentation to better illustrate the concepts.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • To understand how active SLBs work.
  • To understand the clinical implications of SLB/archwires interaction.
  • To understand the clinical implication of tubes/archwires interaction.
  • To understand the rationale behind the CCO Rx.
  • To understand the basic concepts of ideal bracket placement.
  • To understand the basics concepts within the three stages of treatment mechanics.
